About Us
The Department of Landscape Architecture, which began offering education at the undergraduate level in the Faculty of Forestry during the 2007–2008 academic year, was transferred to the Faculty of Architecture at Süleyman Demirel University, along with its students, pursuant to the decision of the Higher Education Executive Board dated June 19, 2014, in accordance with Articles 7/d-2 and 7/h-2 of Law No. 2880 amending the Higher Education Law. This transition was carried out in line with the opinion of PEMKON (Council of Heads of Departments of Landscape Architecture in Türkiye), which stated that “for newly established or restructured Landscape Architecture Departments, considering that the discipline of landscape architecture is fundamentally a planning and design discipline, and in accordance with the European Union occupational classification and ISCED 97 codes based on the workplaces and professional groups in which graduates are employed, the most appropriate faculty structure would be that of an architecture and spatial planning faculty or an equivalent definition.” Landscape Architecture is a professional discipline that systematically examines the concepts of ecology, planning, and design, and integrates art, science, engineering, and technology in the planning, design, and management of natural and cultural resources. It seeks to harmonize human and physical environments within the framework of protection, development, and sustainable management. The mission of the Department of Landscape Architecture is to educate landscape architects and scholars who are analytical, innovative, practical, inquisitive, and research-oriented, and who aim to protect, enhance, and transmit the environment to future generations.
