Duties, Responsibilities and Authorities

Dean

a) Appointment:
The Dean, who represents the faculty and its units, is elected by the Higher Education Council for a period of three years from among three professors (from within or outside the university) recommended by the Rector, and is appointed following the standard procedure. The Dean whose term has expired may be reappointed.

The Dean may appoint up to two vice deans from among the faculty members to assist in his/her duties. Vice deans are appointed for a maximum of three years. The Dean may replace them whenever deemed necessary. When the Dean's term ends, the terms of the vice deans also end.

In the absence of the Dean, one of the vice deans acts as deputy. If the Dean’s position remains vacant for more than six months, a new Dean is appointed.

b) Duties, Responsibilities, and Authorities:

1. To chair faculty boards, implement the decisions of these boards, and ensure smooth functioning between faculty units.
2. To report to the Rector at the end of each academic year and upon request regarding the general situation and functioning of the faculty.
3. To notify the Rectorate of the faculty’s budget and staff needs, providing justification, and to submit budget proposals to the Rector after consulting the Faculty Executive Board.
4. To maintain general supervision and oversight over all faculty units and staff.
5. To perform other duties assigned by laws and regulations.


Faculty Board

a) Organization and Operation:
The Faculty Board, chaired by the Dean, consists of the heads of departments affiliated with the faculty. Additionally, three professors elected by faculty members for a three-year term, two associate professors, and one assistant professor are included.

The Faculty Board holds regular meetings at the beginning and end of each semester. The Dean may call additional meetings whenever necessary.

b) Duties:
The Faculty Board is an academic body and performs the following duties:

1. To decide on the educational, scientific research, and publication activities of the faculty, including principles, plans, programs, and the academic calendar.
2. To elect members to the Faculty Executive Board.
3. To perform other duties assigned by laws and regulations.


Faculty Executive Board

a) Organization and Operation:
The Faculty Executive Board consists of three professors, two associate professors, and one assistant professor elected by the Faculty Board for a three-year term, under the chairmanship of the Dean.

The Faculty Executive Board meets upon the call of the Dean. If deemed necessary, temporary working groups, educational coordinators, and training coordinators may be established, and their duties regulated.

b) Duties:
The Faculty Executive Board serves as an auxiliary body to the Dean in administrative activities and performs the following duties:

1. To assist the Dean in implementing the principles determined by Faculty Board decisions.
2. To ensure the execution of the faculty’s academic calendar, including educational plans and programs.
3. To prepare investment, program, and budget drafts for the faculty.
4. To make decisions on administrative matters presented by the Dean.
5. To make decisions regarding student admissions, course adaptations and withdrawals, educational operations, and examinations.
6. To perform other duties assigned by laws and regulations.
