Excitement for the New Academic Year at the Faculty of Architecture

At Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Architecture, the 2026–2027 Academic Year was welcomed with an academic opening ceremony and a series of events organized as part of “World Architecture Week.”The program, held at the Faculty of Architecture Şehit Hasan Hüseyin Gül Hall, began with a moment of silence followed by the National Anthem.

The event brought together academic and administrative staff and students, providing an opportunity to discuss the goals of the new academic year, the Faculty’s ongoing academic activities, and its future projects and initiatives.

Speaking at the opening of the program, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Prof. Dr. Ali Türk expressed his wishes for a productive and successful academic year for all members of the Faculty. Prof. Dr. Türk emphasized that, in addition to its educational activities, the Faculty of Architecture is an important academic institution that produces scientific knowledge in the fields of architecture, planning, and design, contributes to professional development, and trains qualified professionals for the future. He stated that the Faculty will continue its efforts to improve the quality of education, increase scientific productivity, and strengthen its institutional capacity. During the program, Rector of Süleyman Demirel University Prof. Dr. Mehmet Saltan met with the academic and administrative staff and wished everyone a successful and fruitful 2026–2027 Academic Year while also extending his congratulations on World Architecture Week. Noting that he has witnessed the development of the Faculty of Architecture through various roles since its establishment, Rector Prof. Dr. Saltan stated that the Faculty has now reached a significant level of academic expertise and institutional maturity. Referring to the achievements of the University in various fields, particularly TEKNOFEST, Prof. Dr. Saltan expressed his expectation that the Faculty of Architecture would make even stronger contributions to the University’s success through its scientific studies, academic output, and project activities.

The program continued with a comprehensive presentation by Vice Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seda Şimşek on the Faculty’s current academic structure and ongoing activities. The presentation covered departmental activities, student exchange opportunities, quality assurance processes, new practices implemented within the Faculty, academic and social events, as well as ongoing projects.

The academic opening program concluded with a “Welcome” event organized for students who have newly joined the Faculty. The gathering, featuring a cake-cutting ceremony and a musical performance, provided an enjoyable and welcoming atmosphere, allowing new students to make a warm and pleasant start to their life at the Faculty.
