QR Code-Supported Audio Description Application to Enhance Accessibility Set to Launch
Süleyman Demirel University (SDU) is preparing to launch a QR code-supported audio description application aimed at enabling visually impaired individuals to access campus life more independently and easily. Within the scope of the initiative, President of the Altı Nokta Association for the Blind, İsmail Er, and association members visited SDU Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Saltan to discuss ongoing efforts to improve accessibility for individuals with disabilities in social life and public spaces.

Following the visit, SDU Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Saltan, representatives of the Altı Nokta Association for the Blind, and association members came together at the Faculty of Architecture to discuss a QR code-supported audio description application designed to enable visually impaired individuals to experience and navigate spaces independently. Developed under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seda Şimşek, a faculty member at the Faculty of Architecture, the application aims to facilitate wayfinding, spatial orientation, and access to services for users.
The system is planned to be integrated into university buildings in harmony with the software developed by the Isparta Special Provincial Administration within the scope of the Accessible Isparta Project. The application will initially be implemented as a pilot project at the Faculty of Architecture, with plans to expand it across the entire campus based on the feedback and results obtained during the pilot phase.

Through this initiative, which supports an accessible and inclusive campus environment, the SDU Faculty of Architecture aims to contribute to improving access to educational and social spaces for individuals with disabilities, enabling them to participate more fully and independently in campus life.
