Our Faculty Member Assistant Proffesor Doctor Dr. Ali Berkay Avcı’s Project Has Been Awarded Funding by TÜBİTAK.
The project titled "Development of a Measurement-Validated Simulation and Machine Learning-Based Model Aimed at Improving Thermal Comfort in Contemporary Add-on Traditional Rural Houses," conducted by Dr. Ali Berkay Avcı from the faculty of Architecture at Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Architecture, has been approved for funding under the TÜBİTAK 3501 – Career Development Program”. The project team includes Researcher Dr. Özge Deniz Toköz, and the study will be carried out under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Tahsin Başaran.
Within the scope of the project, temperature and humidity measurements will be conducted for 13 months in a rural house located in the Karacasu district of Aydın, examining how both the stone masonry structure and the reinforced-concrete extension respond to climatic conditions. The collected data will be used to validate the building energy simulation, after a machine learning–based model capable of predicting thermal comfort will be developed.
Funded by TÜBİTAK, this project stands out as an important research initiative, both for its contribution to the sustainability of traditional rural housing and for introducing an innovative approach aimed at improving energy efficiency and overall living comfort.
