Woods Shaping Hope: The Parametric Playgrounds Protocol Has Been Implemented.

A protocol titled “Woods Shaping Hope: Parametric Playgrounds” has been launched between our Faculty’s Department of Architecture and LÖSEV, aiming to make a spatial contribution to children’s recovery processes.

Carried out under the motto “From nature to design, from design to children,” the project aims to design safe, supportive play and interaction spaces tailored to the physical needs and psychological sensitivities of children under the care of LÖSEV who have completed their treatment but continue to undergo regular check-ups. The project seeks to create environments where children can temporarily distance themselves from the challenges of illness and treatment and simply be themselves as children—playing, exploring, socializing, and spending time freely. By incorporating wood, a natural and warm material, as one of the fundamental elements of the design, the project envisions creating an intimate atmosphere that fosters children’s sense of security and belonging.

The design and production processes for the parametric playgrounds to be developed as part of the project will be carried out under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. İlker ERKAN, a faculty member of our Department of Architecture, within the curriculum of the fourth-year course “Modeling Methods in Architecture.” In this way, the project aims to provide students with hands-on experience by enabling them to apply the parametric design, modeling, and fabrication skills they acquire in the course to a real-world social responsibility project.

“Woods Shaping Hope: Parametric Playgrounds” is based on the idea that architecture can directly touch children’s lives and contribute to their healing processes, aiming to bring nature-inspired design together with the world of children.

We hope that this meaningful collaboration with LÖSEV will contribute to the creation of high-quality spaces that support children’s physical and psychological well-being. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all our stakeholders who have contributed to and supported the project.
